The National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at Golden Corral, 3411 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, at 11 a.m. The speaker will be Bob McNeill, Director of the Washington County 911 Service. For additional information, call Wayne Robertson at 232-6219.

 

FridayOct. 5

The Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center will host CarFit, a free educational event for senior drivers in their vehicles, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first 10 cars at the event will receive gift cards. Gifts bags will be distributed and light refreshments will be available. The AAA, the American Occupational Therapy Association and AARP worked together to develop CarFit. A team of trained technicians and health care professionals will work to ensure the driver fits properly in their vehicle to increase comfort and safety. The center is located at 428 E. G. St., Elizabethton.

Hampton Lodge No. 750 will hold a stated meeting at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. Visitors are always welcome.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Uptown Country Band will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Outdoorsman on Stone Drive in Kingsport. Admission is $5. For more information, call Daryl Goodman at 943-5600.

Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Closed Meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Narcotics Anonymous “Just For Today” group will meet at the Crossroads Building at 12:15 p.m. Enter through the entrance at the rear of the building.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

MondayOct. 8

Take Off Pounds Sensibly, or TOPS, will meet at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, on Mondays with weighing in from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Meeting begins at 6 p.m. For more information, call 213-2770.

The Johnson City United Auto Workers Retirees will hold their monthly meeting at 10 a.m., at the Pipefitters Union Hall, 121 Spring St., Johnson City. All UAW retirees are invited to attend. The Al-Anon “Free To Be Me” Family Group will meet at 6 p.m. at the Watauga Baptist Association Building, 3871 Highway 19E, Elizabethton.

ThursdayOct. 11

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at the Southside Christian Church Recreation Building (the old school) on Southside Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with a business meeting to follow at 7 p.m. All members are requested to attend. The chapter normally meets the second Thursday of each month. Anyone who is service-connected and disabled or who thinks they might be is invited to attend and get more information.

The Carter County Humane Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Doe River Baptist Church.

A Breast Cancer Awareness and Support Group will meet at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in the classrooms from 7 to 8 p.m. For more information, call Lisa Cole at 542-1394 or email ColeLM@msha.com. The support group meets the second Thursday of each month.
