The Roan Mountain 12-Step Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. at Magill Presbyterian Church, 296 Highway 143, Roan Mountain.

 

FridayAug. 17

Hampton Lodge No. 750 will hold a stated meeting at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. Visitors are always welcome.

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will hold a Tennessee Handgun Permit training class beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the B&K Community Center on the Old Bristol Highway in Elizabethton. The descendants of Ruby and Addie Birchfield Gouge and Emmert and Bettie Gouge Collins will hold their annual family reunion at the Little Doe Freewill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Family and friends are invited to the annual Brewer/ Birchfield Family Reunion at Roan Mountain State Park at the Campground Picnic Shelter. Please bring a picnic lunch for everyone to enjoy. Coffee, cups, plates, napkins and silverware will be furnished. Lunch will be served at noon. Those attending are asked to bring family history and photos to share. A Security Guard Training Class will be taught at the B&K Community Center on the Old Bristol Highway beginning at 8:30 a.m. The class will consist of unarmed, armed, renewal, chemical spray, baton and handcuffing. Ken Potter, State Certified Trainer, will be instructing the class. You may also sign up for Stun Gun/Taser Training. For cost and to enroll, call 543-6048 or 341-1709.
