Organizers for the upcoming Southside School Reunion will meet at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place at the old Southside School in Elizabethton. Attendees will make the final plans for the third annual reunion for students and others connected with the school. Please try to attend as this will be the final meeting before the reunion. Contributions will be taken to help with expenses.
The Johnson City United Auto Workers Retirees will meet at 10 a.m. at Maple Grove Restaurant in Unicoi. All UAW retirees are invited to attend. Directions: Follow 1nterstate 26 East towards Asheville. Take Exit 32 and turn left at the end of the ramp. The restaurant is 2/10th of a mile on the right. The Al-Anon “Free To Be Me” Family Group will meet at 6 p.m. at the Watauga Baptist Association Building, 3871 Highway 19E, Elizabethton.
The Carter County Humane Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Doe River Baptist Church.
The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at the Southside Christian Church Recreation Building (the old school) on Southside Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with a business meeting to follow at 7 p.m. All members are requested to attend. The chapter normally meets the second Thursday of each month. Anyone who is service-connected and disabled or who thinks they might be is invited to attend and get more information.
A book signing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Elizabethton STAR for a new pictorial history book, “Carter County,” by Dawn and Jackie Peters. The authors will be present to personally sign copies and books will be available to purchase during the event.

Roan Mountain Lodge No. 566 F&AM will hold a F.C. Degree at the lodge hall. A meal will be served at 5 p.m. and the degree will start around 7 p.m. All members and visitors are welcome to attend.
The Thomas Webb and Lola Potter Webb Family Reunion will be held at the Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church Picnic Area located on Riverview Drive. The reunion begins at noon and lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Each family is asked to bring a picnic to share. The event will offer a memorial table and each family is asked to bring a picture of loved ones to be remembered, along with a candle.
Rocky Top Gun Permit School will hold a Tennessee Handgun Permit training class beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the B&K Community Center on the Old Bristol Highway in Elizabethton.
