Mountain States Auxiliary will hold a sale of cinnamon-glazed nuts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The sale will feature fresh-roasted, cinnamon-glazed, pecans, almonds and cashews. Sugar-free pecans will also be available. Customers are welcome to enjoy a free sample. Small bags are $4.25 or 2 for $8. Medium bags are $7.50 or 2 for $14. Large bags are $15.50. Twenty percent of all sales will go to the Sycamore Shoals Hospital Auxiliary to benefit patients and their families.

 

ThursdayNov. 8

The Carter County Humane Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Doe River Baptist Church.

Sycamore Shoals Hospital will host a WordWorks Art Sale in the cafeteria from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All orders placed will be delivered to the hospital in early December. People can design their own beautiful masterpieces for themselves or loved ones with WordWorks art. Payment can be by cash, check, credit, debit or payroll deduction. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the hospital’s Auxiliary and its work on behalf of patients and their families. To see examples of WordWorks Art, visit www.wordworksart.com.

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at the Southside Christian Church Recreation Building (the old school) on Southside Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with a business meeting to follow at 7 p.m. All members are requested to attend. The chapter normally meets the second Thursday of each month. Anyone who is service-connected and disabled or who thinks they might be is invited to attend and get more information. Please bring your DV Form 218 with you.

 

FridayNov. 9

The Keenburg Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization will host a fall festival from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gym. There is no admission charge; tickets to play games are 25 cents each. Activities will include games, auctions, hay rides, pony rides, cake walks and much more. Prizes will be awarded. Come out to the festival and bring the whole family. Hampton Lodge No. 750 will be conducting a Master Mason Degree. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with degree work to begin around 7 p.m. All area brethren are invited to attend and participate in this degree work. Visitors are always wecome.

The Elizabethton Senior Dance Club will hold a dance at the Elizabethton Elks Lodge, No. 1847, 1000 N. Sycamore St., from 7 to 10 p.m Music will be provided by the Rambling Rose Band. Those attending are asked to bring finger foods to share. There is a $6 door charge.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

SaturdayNov. 10

The Buladeen Citizens Center Club, 2819 Highway 91, Stoney Creek, will host the Dusty Road Band at 6 p.m. Concessions will be available. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome. Limited Edition will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.

Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Closed Meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Narcotics Anonymous “Just For Today” group will meet at the Crossroads Building at 12:15 p.m. Enter through the entrance at the rear of the building.

The Elizabethton Civitan Club will raise the American flag at participating business locations in recognition of Veterans Day. Information may be obtained about the Civitan Flag Program by calling 542-2092.

Sycamore Chapter 163 Order of the Eastern Star will hold a bean supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at the lodge. Menu will consist of beans, cornbread, slaw, drink and desserts. Tickets are $5 at the door. Everyone is welcome.

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will hold a Tennessee Handgun Permit training class beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the B&K Community Center on the Old Bristol Highway in Elizabethton.
