The Carter County Ministerial Association’s annual Community Thanksgiving Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. at Oak Street Baptist Church.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Tyler Eiland, Pastor of Siam Baptist Church. He and his wife, Jennifer, and their two children came to Siam in January of this year after serving for two years as church planters in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa.
The Eilands are natives of Alabama and both attended Samford University in Birmingham.
Eiland received his Master of Divinity degree in Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
His message will be titled “Blessed to Be A Blessing.”
Minister Brent Nidiffer, CCMA president, said, “We are delighted to welcome Tyler and his family to our community and are looking forward to hear him share God’s word at the Thanksgiving service. We welcome the entire community to attend.”
The Elizabethton Choral Club, under the direction of Debbie Gouge, will sing “For the Beauty of the Earth” and “Total Praise.”
One-half of the offering received on behalf of the ministerial association will be donated to Assistance Resource Ministries of Elizabethton.
A nursery and child care will be provided for children up to age four.
Oak Street Baptist is located at 804 Oak Street at the intersection of Stateline Road.
The Rev. Bruce Hendrich is pastor of the host church.
