Community Visioning Open House has low participation

Thursday was a day for casting votes. In addition to the August general election and primaries for the November election, Elizabethton residents had the chance to cast their vote for what they believe the most important goals for Elizabethton should be during the Elizabethton Community Visioning Committee’s Open House.

The committee members held their Open House Thursday night at Elizabethton High School. City residents were invited to attend the Open House to give their opinion on what the most important goals for Elizabethton should be. The event had a very low turnout with only eight of the individuals attending the Open House casting their votes. Director of Planning and Development Jon Hartman said he was disappointed with the lack of citizen participation in choosing the future goals of Elizabethton.
