Copper theft lands two men in jail
Two men with a truckload of copper pipe have been arrested on felony charges for taking the material from a home in Roan Mountain.
Sgt. Harmon Duncan and Investigator Larry Vaughn of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department said they received a tip that copper had been stolen from a residence and was located in the back of a pickup truck at a nearby residence on Hogum Hollow Road in Roan Mountain. The investigators went to 257 Hogum Hollow Road on Thursday and observed a Chevrolet pickup truck with a load of old copper piping.
