Morgan Thomas from Marshall County shared with local leaders Wednesday about his county’s recycling program, which includes curbside pickup, drop-off locations and a single-stream processing plant.
County Mayor Leon Humphrey said the county is in the process of applying for a $25,000 grant to get new single stream recycling equipment for the Carter County Recycling Center. He explained that Marshall County, which has a population of 30,500, is similar in many aspects to Carter County and local officials may be able to take some of the ideas from the middle Tennessee county and apply them locally. He said it was important that all areas of the county work together in order for the recycling program to successfully grow.
