The Carter County Election Commission has officially declared a Republican primary will take place in the county on May 6.
Offices included in the county primary are mayor, all commission districts, trustee, general sessions judge, sheriff, circuit court clerk, county clerk, register of deeds, road superintendent and constables in all districts.
First Judicial District offices included in the primary are circuit court judge, chancellor, criminal court judge, district attorney general and public defender.
Nominating petitions are now available at the Election Commission office located at 801 E. Elk Ave.
On Tuesday morning, Carter County Administrator of Elections Tracy Harris said a total of 23 people have requested a primary packet for the Republican primary.
