Although Carter County’s budget process officially ended on July 26, one county board is wondering how it will be affected by some of the decisions made.
On Tuesday afternoon, the county Parks and Recreation Board discussed the role it would play in the coming months under a new budget, and a new designation.
During the budget process, the county’s Budget Committee voted to designate the Parks and Recreation Board as an outside agency for funding purposes. When the board convened, however, no one at the meeting could say what that meant for the board, or how much money had been budgeted by the commission.
“They’ve got it screwed up so bad, we don’t know what we’re doing,” said Board Chairman Ralph Watson. “We don’t know where we’re going. We never get any information from anybody, and really we don’t know what we can or can’t do.”
