ERWIN — After a sloppy first half by both Elizabethton and Unicoi County, UCHS freshman coach Drew Rice knew his team had to pick up the pace and get transition buckets.
By the end of the third quarter, the Devils had put the game out of reach.
UCHS went on a 17-2 run in the third quarter en route to a 43-27 romp of the Cyclones at the Devils Den.
Unicoi County played zone, and it caused trouble all night for the Cyclones. At the end of the third quarter, EHS only had 10 points.
The key for Unicoi was getting steals and turning those turnovers into offense. From late in the second quarter on, UCHS was able to do that very well and the Cyclones never got into a flow.
