Cyclones advance to 1-AA final

A quartet of base hits produced only one run for Elizabethton in the first inning after two baserunners were tagged out, giving South Greene hopes of hearing some victory music after the game.
Instead, the Rebels heard Elvis Presley’s version of “It’s Over” after their lopsided loss.
The Cyclones (26-10) overcame those basepath woes to eliminate the Rebels 12-2, advancing to Wednesday’s Region 1-AA championship game against Greeneville.
The Greene Devils knocked off Unicoi County 4-3 and will travel to Joe O’Brien Field for a 6 p.m. contest.
Elizabethton head coach Joe Nix stated that, in his mindset, fireworks were going off after the first inning — but felt good about the way his team approached the game.
