Cyclones denied repeat victory over Hilltoppers

By

Elizabethton came in fine-tuned and prepared to stop Science Hill’s Calvin Songster from playing some string music.

What the Cyclones didn’t expect was a “Beethoven-like” performance from sophomore Peyton Wingate that left them like a “Rhapsody in Blue.”

Wingate fired in a career-high 27 points in the Hilltoppers’ 79-63 win at Treadway on Friday night
The Cyclones fell behind 14-6 in the first quarter but got it back to 19-14 at the close. Wingate had five points in the quarter and eight at the half. His quintet of trifectas seemed to all come when ’Betsy was making a run.
