Cyclones fall to South in soccer opener

If Monday evening’s boys soccer match at Brown-Childress Stadium were 78 minutes long, or more precisely if each half was 39 minutes, Elizabethton would have escaped with a nothing-to-nothing draw.
However, it is an 80-minute contest, and Sullivan South took advantage with goals inside of a minute of each half to blank the Cyclones 2-0 in a non-region, season-opening match at home.
Dave Rider Field became a quagmire early and the Cyclones possessed well in the opening half but the Rebels (1-0) got a goal in the 39th minute from Blake Stickley off a rebound of a shot from teammate Luke Heard.
