Everything fell in place for the Elizabethton High School boys basketball team in 2003, and the Cyclones had a season that has not been forgotten.
The Cyclones, who were very competitive against some of the area’s best Class AAA schools, dropped to Class AA at the right time — and players like Vince Redd, Jordan Lambert, Walter Brown and B.J. Miller — and a great supporting cast — took advantage of an opportunity and reached the state tournament.
Elizabethton had a lot of success in Class AAA in boys basketball all through its school history, including a fairly recent District 1-AAA Championship in 1996, but the school administration at around the late 1990s began exploring the possibilities of achieving great things playing in the classification EHS was supposed to be playing in the whole time.
