A sharp pitching performance from Austin Smith derailed Sullivan North’s battery.
Elizabethton, on the other hand, capitalized on Raider mistakes with timely hits in an 11-1 conference victory Wednesday night at Joe O’Brien Field.
Smith struck out five and walked one, giving up just one run on six hits in a six-inning effort to improve to 3-1 on the season. His counterpart, Chase Arnold, gave up 11 runs, eight earned, on nine hits with five walks, one strike out and two hit batters.
At the plate three Cyclones delivered multi-hit performances. Chris Lanthorn was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and three runs scored, Anthony Ward was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored while Thomas Miller delivered a 2-for-4 outing with an RBI.
