Sullivan South was aiming to clinch the Three Rivers Conference crown. Elizabethton played the role of spoiler.
Following the 17-point, eight-assist, senior-night performance of Zeke Clark, the Cyclones built a second-half lead of as many as 20 and stormed the Rebels 59-47 at Treadway Gymnasium.
“We had to push the ball on offense and do a much better job, because when we went to South we didn’t play much defense at all and we got in trouble for it,” said Clark, who was honored alongside classmates DeRon Wells and Caleb Lee before the tip. “We had to come out here more focused and play our game.”
Tyler Nichols added 16 points, Bo Pless a strong nine-point, seven-rebound effort and Conley Bowers eight points for Elizabethton, which looked like a completely different team following Monday’s loss at Unicoi County.
