Cyclones, Warriors bring robust rushing attacks into confrontation

By

Rushing records went out the window for Elizabethton and Happy Valley one week ago. What will the crosstown rivals have up their sleeves tonight?

The sixth-ranked Cyclones (4-1) visit the Warriors (3-3) for a key Three Rivers Conference tilt tonight that will feature a heaping helping of the ground game if it’s anything like the respective performances seven evenings ago: Elizabethton, behind Ethan Thomas’ record 312-yard outing in a 35-13 win at Tennessee High, and Happy Valley, who had a 332-yard night from Phillip Garland in a 28-26 win at Abingdon, Va.

More importantly, for the players, it’s a game of bragging rights. A game that has played out in Elizabethton’s favor with the exception of two meetings since the series began.
