Cyclones welcome Daniel Boone for season opener

Everything that’s transpired from spring workouts through Aug. 22 is in the books.

All of the hard work, practicing and scrimmages aside, tonight’s kick-off is what Elizabethton’s football team has been waiting for since their Class 3-A semifinal exit last fall.

“Tomorrow’s a chance for us to show people how hard we’ve worked because our kids have paid a huge price this offseason,” said Cyclones head coach Shawn Witten.

The first true test for a team that lost a bevy of seniors from the team one year ago and will mix experience with new faces that are untested underneath the Friday-night lights, Daniel Boone visits Brown-Childress Stadium off of a nice 8-3 campaign in a tough Big Eight (Now Big Seven) Conference last fall.
