A new champion was crowned on Thursday evening in the Carter County League Girls T-Ball at Unaka Elementary School as David’s Trophies outlasted the Lil’ Yankees 8-6 to take the title.
“We had to beat them twice for the championship,” said David’s Trophies coach Carrie Bowers. “I have a real good group of girls here. They work hard and everybody had fun.”
The Yanks scored three runs in their half of the first with Sadie Williams and Emma Slemp each hitting for a single. One out later, Matti Abel doubled to right field to bring home two runs and with two outs Taylor Berry had an RBI hit to give the Yanks a 3-0 lead.
