Pianist Pavlina Dokovska will perform in the East Tennessee State University Department of Music’s 2012-13 Powell Piano Series Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mathes Hall auditorium.
The program includes works by Debussy and Chopin.
Dokovska is a winner of the Claude Debussy International Competition in France and the International Piano Competition of Senigallia in Italy. Her concert tours have taken her to Europe, the Far East and throughout the United States, earning her critical acclaim.
The Bulgarian native regularly performs as a recitalist and soloist with major orchestras. She joined the faculty of the Mannes College of Music in New York in 1995. Three years later, she was elected chair of the Piano Department, a position she continues to hold.
The ETSU Department of Music’s Powell Piano Series began in the fall of 2007 in honor of Jim and Sandy Powell, and is dedicated to the advancement of solo piano performance by outstanding national and international artists.
