Donors boost fight against parvovirus

The Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter recently received a donation of 75 parvo, or canine parvovirus, vaccines to help stop the spread of the frequently fatal disease among dogs at the shelter.

The donations came from two sources: the Carter County Humane Society and a partnership between East Tennessee Spay and Neuter and the Animal Resource Center.

Animal Shelter Director April Jones said the CCHS donated funding to buy 25 vaccines, while ETSN and the Animal Resource secured a combined donation of 50 vaccines, from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. The donations provided around a one-month supply of vaccinations for the shelter.
