University High appeared to be headed for its second conference win over Unaka in two days until the Rangers decided to put their hitting britches on. The Creekers overcame a 7-0 deficit by scoring 10 unanswered runs en route to their 10-7 victory Wednesday at Claude Holsclaw Field.
The win avenges a 7-5 loss to UH on Monday. Home runs from Eli Rasnick and Taylor Edwards factored heavily, and so did the gutsy pitching of Thomas Hardin.
“I thought our kids showed a lot of heart and courage not to give up,” said Unaka head coach Tee Blevins. “We’ve been having a bad inning or two that’s put us in in a hole, but today they bowed their backs and gutted it out to get a victory.”
