Downtown Elizabethton is getting ready for the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
The Downtown Business Association will host the annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The event has been returned to Sunday, its traditional day for many years. In the past few years, the DBA has tried different options for the Open House, like moving it to later in December and on a Saturday or hosting an all-day open house promotion.
“I love having it on Sunday because it is like having a special customer appreciation day,” said DBA President Cathy Shoun. “It is easier to have refreshments for the guests during a set time rather than an all day event. Having the Open House as a special Sunday event puts the shoppers in a good mood for Christmas shopping. I know it is hard to do it in November because it is a quick switch on the decorations, but if we do it before Thanksgiving we can get their business before all the big sales.”
“The Open House is our way of showing the customers we appreciate their business through the year,” Shoun said.
