Dr. Keith Young of Northeast State composes the music for ‘Liberty!’

Music playing during this year’s performances of “Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals” at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area was composed by Dr. Keith Young, who is the first person to create music for the state’s official outdoor drama.

Dr. Keith Young composed the music for this year’s “Liberty!” production at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area. He is the first individual to produce the music for the state’s official outdoor drama.

Young, director of Northeast State Community College at Elizabethton, said he has been a musician and storyteller for about 30 years and has degrees in music.

“I have done some composing that I just like to do for myself and I’ve done some music for my programs,” Young said. “I have always piddled with music composition.”
