Dramatic win over South earns Cyclones a Three Rivers championship

By

KINGSPORT — At the end of a dismal first half, facing a two-score deficit on the road, the message was clear to Elizabethton’s football team in the locker room.

“The coaches were saying don’t quit, don’t let up, keep the gas pedal going and don’t stop believing,” junior tailback Ethan Thomas recalled.
When the haze cleared Death Valley, the Cyclones reclaimed their conference championship.

Flipping the switch on what was a tough Sullivan South offense led by quarterback Dylan Wieger in the second half, Elizabethton found its groove in each phase of play and stunned the host Rebels 28-27 Friday night.
