Driver faces felony charges for hit-and-run

A 19-year-old male driver faces felony charges following a hit-and-run crash that sent another driver to the emergency room with serious injuries on Tuesday morning.

Christopher D. Weaver, 19, of 608 Willow St., Elizabethton, was arrested by Ptl. Sarah Ellison of the Elizabethton Police Department on charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, felony reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ellison said officers were dispatched to the intersection of Broad Street and N. Sycamore Street on Tuesday at 7:44 a.m. on the report of an accident with injuries. Investigator Todd Hamm observed the offender’s vehicle and began to follow it as it left the scene.
