East escapes Lady Longhorns

BLUFF CITY — The threes came in bunches for the Sullivan East Lady Patriots on Friday night, and they hit just enough to hold on against one of the most remarkably improved programs of the last several years.
Sullivan East hit eight threes in defeating the Johnson County Lady Longhorns 50-48 at the Patriot Palace, and East needed all eight of them to hold off JCHS.
The Lady Longhorns, who just two years ago in Todd Whittemore’s first season won one game and lost to a Holston, Va., team that had been defeated in 103 straight games, now finds themselves competing with very respectable programs — and forced East to have to go long range in order to defeat this upstart program.
