The Elizabethton Police Department showcased its assets, such as the bicycle patrol and SWAT team, Friday at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport in an effort to receive accreditation from the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.
Several officers, including Chief Matt Bailey, Capt. Joy Markland and patrol officers, showcased different aspects of the EPD in an airport hangar. Bailey said the static display was part of the final on-site policy file review and inspection performed by assessors and inspectors with the Professional Standards Committee within the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.
“The static display gave the assessors an opportunity to inspect assets and equipment from the various units in the patrol division as well as the criminal investigation division of the police department,” Chief Matt Bailey said. “During their visit, they inspected our facilities and interviewed officers about our policies and general orders.”
