EHDA approves Community Day Care contract, rental rate structure

On Tuesday, the Elizabethton Housing and Development Agency Board of Directors approved flat rent rates, electrical allowance and maintenance charges for residents for the upcoming year.

They also approved continuing the contract between the EHDA and the Community Day Care and Learning Center.

The Day Care operates two sites in the EHDA community. One of the day cares is at 820 Hemlock St. in Walnut/Hemlock Manor, and the other is at 210 South Hills Drive in South Hills Estates.

The centers provide care for approximately 70 children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The day care pays $1 in rent each month for each space for a total of $24 each year.

Board member Larry Gobble questioned whether the employees at the child care center were volunteers or if they were paid. He also asked, if they were paid employees, which agency was responsible for their salaries.
