Elizabethton High School’s Aviation Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host a Valentine’s Dance for senior citizens Thursday. The students are learning ballroom dance steps from Ken and Lee Simmelink.

Elizabethton High School students are inviting local senior citizens out for a night of dancing and fun times to have a belated Valentine’s Day celebration.

The EHS Aviation Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host the seniors’ Valentine Dance on Thursday, Feb. 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton.

Faculty Adviser Dan Mills said the students were behind the idea to host the dance. This is the second year the clubs have hosted the dance.

“Valentine’s Day is for people who are in love and for a lot of seniors, it would be a sad time because they have lost their mate,” Mills said. “It was a success last year and they decided to do it again this year.

The students decided to host the dance for the community and invite senior citizens to attend. Students have invited their own family members and friends and have extended the invitation to the public once again this year.
