The success of Elizabethton High School’s swimming program has branched out into the summer season.
The Barracuda Swim Club of Northeast Tennessee has picked up the Aqua Cyclones for the East Tennessee Summer Swim League. Elizabethton opens up at home on June 4 against Johnson City Country Club.
“We want to educate them about the benefits of swimming, and the successes that can be achieved in a team-oriented environment,” Elizabethton coach Justin Conway said on Wednesday night. “It is my dream to see a feeder program for the high school team. Swimming is, like most other sports, a year-round activity in which athletes need to participate.”
There are eight meets, four at the EHS pool. Practice takes place 3:30-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
