Elizabethton gets past Volunteer in overtime

By

GRAY — Elizabethton’s Cyclones went on a 10-3 run in the final two minutes of overtime to come away with a 49-45 decision over Volunteer Saturday afternoon in the Trailblazer Classic at Daniel Boone.

“It was an ugly game,” EHS head coach Lucas Honeycutt said. “Games like this though can help down the road. I thought our guys kept fighting even though things weren’t going our way.

“The game was slow and neither team could really get in a flow. A 3:15 p.m. game doesn’t have a lot of energy but we’ve got to work on making our own energy. Anytime you can get a win in overtime is big.”
