Winter-like weather and sloppy plays on the diamond reared their heads in Carter County during Three Rivers Conference action..
Elizabethton (3-4, TRC 2-1) would put on a three-run, fifth-inning effort, but Unicoi County would pull away with a 10-3 decision at Joe O’Brien on a frosty Tuesday night.
Blue Nation (3-0, TRC 2-0) kept the win streak alive — after the Orange & Black made it a bit interesting late.
“We’ve got a few new kids at new positions and we’ll look for them to get better as the season goes along,” EHS skipper J.P. Nix said. “I like the way they battled back in the fifth. Unicoi’s got a great pitcher in (Jonathan) Davis, but we didn’t respond the way we’d like to early on — and you can’t give up six errors to a team like Unicoi.”
