Elizabethton’s Woodby gains shot with Brevard

A consistent presence on the defensive side of the football for Elizabethton High School over the previous two seasons, Jacob Woodby was an unsung hero at his linebacker post.

His hard work, however, certainly paid off Wednesday with the opportunity to play at the NCAA Division II level for head coach Paul Hamilton and the Brevard College (N.C.) Tornados.

“It’s really special to me,” said Woodby, who signed during a National Signing Day ceremony at Elizabethton High’s cafeteria. “I’ve been working hard since I was little to be able to play at the collegiate level. Brevard offered everything I want. It’s a great place to be up there. I like it a lot.”
