Carter County EMS Director Terry Arnold informed the financial management committee Wednesday morning that the department is continuing to provide a high level of emergency services despite the recent budgets cuts by the county commission. Arnold stated that the department has been forced to delay the purchase of two new ambulances due to the reductions in funding.
Carter County EMS Director Terry Arnold and Assistant Director Anthony Roberts appeared before the county’s financial management committee Wednesday morning to provide an update on the financial impact of the 2013 budget.
Arnold, who was invited to appear before the committee by Chairwoman Jo Ann Blankenship, discussed how the recent county budget has affected rescue operations and emergency services in Carter County.
In order to maintain services and stay within their operating budget, Arnold said they have delayed the placement of a new ambulance in the West End of the county and at the Hampton location. He stated that decision was based, in large part, due to the reductions in the amount of funding that the rescue squad receives from the county budget.
