The Brandi Ensor Show wasn’t enough to keep up with the Lady Warriors.
Unaka’s senior post cut loose for 30 points in a valiant losing effort, but Happy Valley’s girls prevailed 54-46 on Friday night in a non-conference basketball game at Bayless Gymnasium.
“Ensor did a great job,” Happy Valley coach Larry Abel said. “We didn’t do a good job of stopping the penetration by her, but we kept battling and made enough free throws to pull it out. We didn’t shoot free throws well, though.”
Indeed, the Warriors (11-10) were 8 of 15 at the foul line in the final period when Unaka (5-13) had stormed from 17 down to pull within three. Ensor hit 15 points in the fourth.
