Entries being accepted for Jonesborough parade

The Jonesborough Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting entries for the 42nd annual Jonesborough Days Parade scheduled for Saturday, June 30, at 10 a.m.

The parade sets the stage for the festival with a celebration of the community and its heritage. The theme of the 2012 parade is “Jonesborough Days — Memories and Melodies.” It is requested that entries be designed and decorated to focus on patriotic and storytelling heritage. Music and historic representations of the theme are encouraged as it is a great way for businesses, churches and individuals to help reflect on history and community.

Entry fees include $50 for commercial and political entries and $25 for non-commercial entries. A mandatory safety meeting will take place on Monday, June 25, at the Jonesborough Visitors Center at 6 p.m. to review rules and line-ups of the parade. A refund of $10 will be given for attendance to the meeting.
