Ernest G. Weaver, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was the son of the late Paul and Bertha Lawrence Weaver and was born in Inola, Okla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Weaver.
Mr. Weaver was retired from Bojangles and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Elizabethton. He loved gardening and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Blair and her husband, Kerry, Elizabethton; two sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Young and John Young, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Ashley Young, Melanie Young and Jordan Young; three step-grandchildren, Ashley Schaffer and her husband, Jeremy, Bristol, Tenn., Kristina Schmidt and Shannon Schmidt, both of Elizabethton; one great-grandchild; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Weaver, Buffalo, N.Y., and Leon Weaver, Saginaw, Mich.; two sisters, Bernice Lunnie and Marie Jackson, both of Saginaw, Mich.; and the mother of his children, Johnnie Weaver, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests the comfort and honor of your presence at the funeral service for Mr. Weaver on Thursday, February 13, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ernest Widby and Rev. Estell Williams officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ms. Loretta Bowers. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, and at the home at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, February 14, at 11 a.m. in the Gardner Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Sylvester Young, Nathaniel “Buddy” Watson Sr. and James Avery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
