Evelyn Grindstaff Ward


Evelyn Grindstaff “Granny” Ward, 89, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Jennie Mae Hardin Grindstaff and was born in Carter County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Ward; a sister, Aileen Grindstaff Pierce; and two brothers, Robert E. Grindstaff and Floyd Grindstaff.
Mrs. Ward was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed making crafts, selling her jelly at the flea market and playing Bingo.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Sue Ward O’Bannon and husband, Barrie, Hot Springs, Ark., Barbara Ann Ward Herron and husband, Barry, Dorothy, W.Va., and Kathy E. Williams and companion, Kenneth Fletcher, both of Elizabethton; one son, Raymond G. Ward, Elizabethton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Grace Herman, of Alabama; and one brother-in-law, Abraham Ward, of Mississippi. Also surviving are special friends, Wesley and Rita Holtsclaw, Wayne and Holly Koonz and Billy and Kathy Cole.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of 6200 at the Johnson City Medical Center for the love and care given to Mrs. Ward during her illness.

    I’m so sorry to hear the world lost such a wonderful woman. I will never forget our trips to
    TN to visit you. You always made us feel welcome. There are many other angels in Heaven
    waiting to see you again. Aunt Evelyn, you are loved & will always be missed.
