Experts could give final ID to remains today

Sheriff Chris Mathes confirmed Tuesday that a driver’s license found along with skeletal remains last week along Gap Creek Road was that of Zane Baxter Gervin II, but he said forensic anthropologists have not yet positively identified the body as the missing man’s.
Today, the anthropologists are expected to identify the remains using dental records and other clues gathered from the scene where the body was found, the sheriff said.
“We’ve been working a missing persons case for the last three months for Mr. Gervin, but there have been cases where people have planted IDs on a body in an effort to hide the real ID,” Mathes said.
