First Mrs. Carter County has high hopes for national pageant

Amelia “Amy” Simmons was chosen as the first Mrs. Carter County, and will be participating in the 2013 Mrs. Tennessee America Pageant in Franklin next weekend.

Simmons will compete against seven other contestants for the title of Mrs. Tennessee — and the chance to go on to compete in the Mrs. America pageant in Las Vegas.

Simmons said she has been involved in pageants in the past and had always wanted to participate in a larger-scale pageant. She was talking with a talent scout one day who encouraged her to try for the Mrs. Tennessee pageant.
