When Hurleah Jones decorates her home for Christmas, she calls it her Christmas greeting to the whole Stoney Creek community.
“It is a visual Christmas card to all my neighbors and friends,” Jones said.
Jones, 72, has been decorating her home for Christmas for the past 25 years. She described herself as a “big kid at heart” and said she loves Christmas decorations.
“I have always had the Christmas tree, but the outside felt empty,” she said. “I started with lights on the house, and it kept expanding from there.”
Jones’ Christmas display now includes icicle lights on the house and the carport, garland and lights along the fence, a lighted Merry Christmas sign on the road-front fence, a Santa sleigh with reindeer, spiral trees, lighted snowflakes and Jones’ favorite, a nativity scene.
“It shows the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ,” Jones said. “It is a reminder every day for what the season is really about. You can get real busy rushing around.”
