Former inmate sues county

A former Carter County Jail prisoner says he suffered a dislocated shoulder last year while incarcerated and staff failed to render aid, leading to a federal lawsuit filed earlier this week.

Jonathan Earl Calhoun, 33, of Elizabethton, was incarcerated in the Carter County Jail Sept. 24, 2011, when he says other inmates assaulted him, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. His complaint states jail staff failed to render proper aid.
