Front Porch Storytellers to host ‘Irish Tales and Tunes’ Saturday at Park

The Front Porch Storytellers will host “Irish Tales and Tunes,” a musical storytelling event, at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park on Saturday, March 23, at 7 p.m.

Storytellers Chad Bogart and Mary Jane Kennedy will lead attendees through the rolling hills of Ireland through different stories and songs at the hour-long event.

“It will be a combination of Irish music and stories based out of Ireland,” Kennedy said. “There will be humorous tales and historical information.”

Kennedy said the evening will start with music. The songs will feature Irish instruments such as the concertina, an instrument similar to an accordion; the tin whistle; and the bodhran drum. Following some musical selections, the pair will share stories followed by more music and stories.

“There will be variety all the way through the show,” Kennedy said.
