Conventional wisdom says you can’t win a game in the first quarter, but on Friday night at Hampton Elementary, T.A. Dugger showed that you can lose one.
The Junior Cyclones fell behind Hampton Middle School by a 13-2 tally in the opening period and could not close the deficit as the Jr. Bulldogs held on for a 43-34 non-conference win.
Jr. ’Dogs guard Jared Andrews sharp shooting kept the Cyclones at bay as he scored 13 of his game-high 17 points in the second half as T.A. Dugger began to make a run.

Lady Jr. Cyclones center Kaysi Royston collected 14 points and Maci West dominated the glass with 12 rebounds as TAD (7-4) won going away. The Cyclones led 7-2 after one quarter and took a 10-6 advantage into the break in a slow moving first half, as the Lady ’Dogs defense stiffened and allowed TAD just one bucket in the period.
