Saying “My heart’s broken,” Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes outlined federal and state child pornography charges Wednesday against a Hampton woman, who could face decades in prison if convicted.
Mathes called the situation the worst case of sexual abuse he has ever seen.
With media assembled at the Carter County Courthouse Annex, Mathes announced the arrest of 32-year-old Crystal Renee Dawn Poore on Monday by deputies and federal authorities at her home at 103 Nave St., Lot 3, on a three-count indictment handed down by a federal grand jury.
In the indictment, Poore is accused of three counts of sexual exploitation of children, alleging the Hampton woman forced her three daughters, ages 2, 6 and 8, to “engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing any visual depiction of such conduct.”
Mathes told reporters, “I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, and we struggled ourselves looking at these pictures. As graphic as you could possibly be with three small children, this was.”
