MOUNTAIN CITY — It wasn’t a thing of beauty, but nobody could discount the outstanding defensive efforts of Happy Valley and Johnson County.
The Lady Warriors hit some key free throws down the stretch to earn a hard-fought 53-49 win.
Neither team led by more than five points at any time in this contest. Happy Valley’s 50-45 advantage with 1:50 remaining was the largest lead of the game.
The Lady Warriors would hold on with the help of some clutch free-throw shooting in the final minute. Coach Larry Abel was happy with his team’s effort, especially on the defensive side.
