CHURCH HILL — Happy Valley established a rock-solid ground attack, and forced Volunteer to put the football in the air.
The Warriors thumped the Falcons 20-12 in non-conference action on Friday night to open the prep season.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do,” Happy Valley coach Larry Shively said. “But it’s good to start off with a win.”
Phillip Garland, the Warriors’ junior tailback, cut loose for 205 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns. Senior linebacker Trey Perkins recorded 14 tackles and recovered two fumbles.
