Despite a strong defensive effort on Friday night at Bayless Gym, Happy Valley was unable to muster enough offense to hold off Sullivan South as the Warriors fell 53-39 in a Three Rivers Conference clash.
Post Christian Comsa’s double-double was enough to spark the Rebels to victory, enabling South to keep pace with Unicoi County for first place in the conference at 7-1 (12-9 overall). Comsa scored 11 points, took down 10 rebounds and blocked five shots in an impressive effort in the paint.
“Our biggest problem was we couldn’t score,” said Warriors head coach Chuck Babb. “You have to be able to make shots when you have the opportunity and we didn’t. We had good looks but until Hammonds got hot in the fourth quarter, we couldn’t get them to fall.”

A strong first half saw the Lady Rebels (5-3, 12-10) build a 41-22 halftime lead with Brayden Hutchins scoring 17 of her game-high 18 points in the first two quarters.
Hutchins hit four threes in the first half, missing just one shot in the half.
